Our Founder

Why Angie started Kahaani Puraani.

My obsession with Indian wellness rituals has grown over time. I used to roll my eyes at Mum making me drink haldi doodh (turmeric milk) to reduce the inflammation of my acne. She would put neem sticks in mine and my sister's ear piercing holes when we weren't allowed to wear earrings to school, oil our hair religiously and teach us what most consider "weird" breathing techniques. Over the years I have realised that a lot of what I have learnt from my parents, weaved into the every day as part of normal routine, is yoga and Ayurveda.

Over the last 10 years I've been studying both of these time tested spiritual sciences and sharing the rituals that have changed my life and my health for the better.

Kahaani Puraani means “old story” in Hindi. I want to honour the timeless Indian wellness rituals I grew up with, and to share them in a way that feels accessible in today’s world. These practices, passed down like treasured tales, carry wisdom that is as relevant now as it was centuries ago.

We’re clearly living in a time where wellness issues are everywhere and through hosting my wellness retreats and corporate wellbeing programmes, I've seen how many people are suffering with their gut health, mental health, respiratory health and more.

This is why we need to honour ancient rituals, and return to what our ancestors did, because in traditional Indian wellness, practices passed down through generations were built to help us return to our centre. Each product has an old story behind it, and I hope our ritualistic products make their way into your home as "stories you can hold." Through these rituals, we remember who we are.

Love, Angie
